Kato is proud to support the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society, the global voice for the protection of whales, dolphins and their environment. Established in 1987, WDCS, the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society, is the world's most active charity dedicated to the conservation and welfare of all whales, dolphins and porpoises (also known as cetaceans). WDCS funds field conservation and research projects all over the world including the United States, Colombia, India, West Africa, New Zealand and the South Pacific. An international team of researchers, scientists and conservationists gives the organization a truly global reach.
WDCS North America is located in Plymouth, MA. Steeped in history and culture, Plymouth was once home to a whaling port but it is now a hub for whale watching. In a place where Native Americans once feasted on marine mammals, the WDCS and their supporters now work to protect them.
WDCS works for the future of whales and dolphins through projects to address threats presented by noise and chemical pollution, net entrapment, trade and captivity and other issues. The group champions whale and dolphin protection through conservation and conducts ongoing research projects to understand species and populations, habitats and migration paths.
WDCS seeks to bring about change by raising awareness about cetacean and ocean conservation through whale and dolphin watching programs, educational outreach and an innovative Adopt a Dolphin or Whale program. |
